One of the most riveting and crucial figures of the graffiti scene, Dondi White (1961-1998), stood out in terms of personality and style amongst other graffiti artists in the 70s, as he courageously plastered his name and aliases on subway trains. Stüssy has secured a number of White’s sketches and transfered them onto clean white t-shirts to create a mini collaboration series. The sketches are scanned in along with the sketchbook page, creating a retrospective feel of White’s personal mark on the t-shirt even though he is no longer with us. The back of the t-shirt is marked with Stüssy’s logo and Dondi White’s name and years. The t-shirts are a great tribute to White, and is now available at Overkill in five models.

Coming from the house of S.Electrics, known for their youthful electrical and digital devices, the S.MP3 by French designer Nicolas Cinguion is an innovative music player that plays green music anytime, anywhere. Looking like a regular yo-yo toy, the latest MP3 player comes with a cable, rolled within a rubber cover, (possibly) to juice it up on the go. All you have to do is spin the player and play your favorite music. When the string of the player is stretched, the resultant energy is converted into useful electricity, which then charges the built-in batteries. The designers doesn’t state the time of yo-yo-ing required to completely charge the battery, but the idea seems practical and neat for all who like to play with their gadgets.

In an era where there are few inspirational figures and even fewer “heros”, enter LeRoy Smith, the man who motivated Michael Jordan. With his “Balltastic” skills and talents, LeRoy Smith beat out Michael Jordan for the last spot on the varsity team back in high school. Thus, in Smith’s words, “…moment inspired MJ to become the Greatest of All Time” and put Smith on the a motivational way of life.
Visit his newly created website, GetYourBasketballOn, where you will find the “shameless” promotion of Smith’s instructional videos (award-deserving) and iPhone App games (fun-mazing). As Smith put it best, “There is nothing I won’t do or sell to make you the you you would become if you could come back from your future and tell yourself what to do.”
