Casio x Wood Wood G-Shock | A Detailed Look

The legendary Casio company was kind enough to treat Wood Wood to their very own G-Shock. They kept the face simple, with nothing more than an embossed W.W. changed up front – though the band is quite ornate with a wrap-around “W” hand sign. Only 15 pieces in the whole wide world. Keep an eye on Wood Wood’s current page for updates on the release. Another look at the Casio x Wood Wood G-Shock after the click.

For Reebok’s global celebration of its iconic Pump’s 20th birthday, the retailers in Asia invited to this pumped up fanfare include Japan’s atmos, Hong Kong’s JUICE, Australia’s Espionage and also Korea’s Kasina. For Korea’s premium retailer Kasina, the store decided to keep its Reebok Pump cool in a fiery red patent leather upper contrasted with black and right blue accents. The black front panel is an interesting reptilian patterened leather and features the label’s portrait logo embroidered in red on the side, playing off the blue “Reebok” and “the pump” logo. Due to drop tomorrow on Nov. 20, those in Korean who are looking to get their feet into some limited edition Pumps can keep an eye out for them at Kasina. More pics after the jump.

Fresh from the colette oven are new tees from Hype Means Nothing. This time around, instead of celebrities and pop culture icons, the label turned to Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Both men worked together and created more than a hundred paintings over a year’s time, where sixteen of those works were showcased at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery in 1985. In terms of their creative process, Warhol would trace corporate logos, newspaper texts and such found images using an opaque projector, then Basquiat would make his mark by painting over and in-between the reproduced images. As Keith Haring mentioned, the duo’s work is a “a physical conversation happening in paint instead of words”. Drawing on the dynamics of both artists, Hype Means Nothing created two tees with Basquiat and Warhol donning the label’s signature hand eye glasses. Working on cult icons and images, there is a striking similarity between the artists’ works and the label. The tees are now available in two colorways each (Black and white) at colette.

Philippines-base art trope CollisionTheory returns to the scene with aggression, quite literally, over the weekend. Commissioned by Nike and Nike Philippines the man behind CollisionTheory, AJ Dimarucot, created a portrait of the Filipino national hero, boxer Manny Pacquiao. The larger than life illustration served as the boxing ring mat for an invite-only viewing party hosted by Nike for the Pacquiao vs. Cotto match Saturday evening. A collage of symbolism in Pacquiao’s life, from the Philippine Eagle, personal stats, to championship belts and trainer Freddie Roach, all formed a resemblance of Pacquiao. The canvas then went through a top-down splatter application in blood red paint. Making the installation a hallowing effigy of the World Champion. More pics from the event after the jump.
