Mos Def – Ecstatic Moments Exhibition and T-Shirt

While Mos Def recorded his 2009 album, The Ecstatic, photographer, filmmaker, and visionist Cognito followed Mos while capturing various candid photographs of the artist that will now be on display for a week in Los Angeles as a part of the Ecstatic Moments Exhibition. The exhibition will include images from Mos Def’s visit to the Cape of Great Hope, South Africa and performing in Sao Paulo, Brazil as well as “end-of-the-night posse shots” featuring Jay Electonica, Talib Kweli, Erykah Badu, and Shuggie Otis. In addition to the exhibition, a limited edition tee was created in collaboration with Los Angeles boutique, UNION. The t-shirt is available now at UNION as well at their online store. Nike Air Max LeBron VII Cool Grey

LeBron’s signature sneaker continues to impress especially with the announcement of the cool grey colorway. Reminiscent of the Jordan XI, the kicks present a classic feel but without the use of the patent leather that VII as well as the XI were accustomed to. Eriberto Oriol For Altamont Collection

Eriberto Oriol is a highly-acclaimed documentary photography with a a gift for capturing the raw essence and realities of L.A. Latino street life, now his images have been chosen for a new Altamont t-shirt collection. Father to equally renowned street photographer Estevan Oriol, Oriol senior has been published extensively from the USA to Japan and will contribute four images from his personal catalog that represent his cultural roots and environment to be applied to t-shirts with symbolic captions. Nike x CollisionTheory – Manny Pacquiao Boxing Ring Portrait | Manila Viewing Party

Philippines-base art trope CollisionTheory returns to the scene with aggression, quite literally, over the weekend.  Commissioned by Nike and Nike Philippines the man behind CollisionTheory, AJ Dimarucot, created a portrait of the Filipino national hero, boxer Manny Pacquiao.  The larger than life illustration served as the boxing ring mat for an invite-only viewing party hosted by Nike for the Pacquiao vs. Cotto match Saturday evening.  A collage of symbolism in Pacquiao’s life, from the Philippine Eagle, personal stats, to championship belts and trainer Freddie Roach, all formed a resemblance of Pacquiao.  The canvas then went through a top-down splatter application in blood red paint.  Making the installation a hallowing effigy of the World Champion. Kobe & Co. Get Their $30,000 Rings

The 2009 NBA Champs Los Angeles Lakers received their championship rings the other day, and they are $30,000 worth of diamonds and gold and goodness. They were made by Jason of Beverly Hills, and it was the 15th time LA has won. Kobe, DFish and owner Jerry Buss all gave their input into the amazing rings and requested 14 diamonds, and the center trophy which would be number 15.  Every member of the team , trainers and coaches all received a ring. Estevan Oriol X Mister Cartoon – Snoop Dogg “Malice In Wonderland” Album Cover Artwork | Behind The Scenes Video

Photographer/Director Estevan Oriol and Mister Cartoon go way back. Not just partners on The Joker Brand clothing, the duo worked through SA Studios and successfully pushed their art into the market place, working with clients such as Nike, Toyota, Harley Davidson and Rockstar Games. This time around, Oriol and Mister Cartoon are back to create the album art for Snoop Dogg’s upcoming album, Malice In Wonderland, due to drop on Dec 8. It is interesting to see the completed work, but it is even more intriguing to see how the artists work and collaborate. Check out the behind the scenes video for making the album packaging and get psyched– not just about Snoop’s upcoming tracks, but also to appreciate the artwork that went into it.

Andy Warhol/ Marilyn Monroe Nike Air Max 90’s

An ode to the famous painting by the great Andy Warhol of Marilyn Monroe are the new iteration of the Nike Air Max 90’s. A special edition, made with a womenly bias, the Monroe Air Max 90’s are certainly a colorful shoe boasting the Warhol painting in vibrant colors around the entire midsole aganist the white body of the sneaker.
