Gatorade x KicksOnFire – Vincent Jackson Interview (San Diego Chargers)

The introduction of the new G-Series marks a major step in the evolution of Gatorade from a sports drink to a sports performance innovator. Scientists collaborated with athletes such as Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, Peyton Manning, Misty May Treanor, Dwayne Wade, Derrick Jeter, Ellery Hollingsworth and Landon Donovan to create the new Gatorade G-Series. The new series is a line of sports performance products that fuel athletes before (Gatorade Prime 01), during (Gatorade Perform 02) and after (Gatorade Recover 03) workout, practice or competition.

During the week of Superbowl XLIV, the KicksOnFire crew was invited to the Gatorade Performance Lab in South Miami, which showcased scientists conducting performance tests on NFL’s top athletes, including:

Overview: Gatorade scientists conducted Athlete Performance Testing on several NFL players to educate each player about their individualized fluid needs, fuels used during exercise, and how the new G-Series fits into their training before, during and after their workouts. The testing included several steps:

  • Estimation of body composition via BOD POD air displacement chamber. (pictured below)
  • Pre-test weight-in and urine collection.
  • 30-min cycling session.
  • Post-test weigh-out.

The KicksOnFire Crew got a chance to sit down with Vincent Jackson (WR) of the San Diego Chargers to discuss his experience with Gatorade’s new G-Series line-up and his workouts:

Since they’re KicksOnFire.com, they HAD to ask him about his sneaker game. They got a chance to ask him several questions about his collection and how he would match up again Kobe in a one on one game:
